BASS DROP pres CYANTIFIC
PART 1 of Bass Drop's December Double Header @ Shush!
One ticket covers you for both these shows:
Dec 4th - Cyantific
Dec 11th - Sigma & the Upbeats
CYANTIFIC
Magic Blaster!!
Our freelance Cyantists hail from the far flung reaches of South-West London. Award winning disk jockey Jon & twisted synth genius Matt have been making harsh tasty beats together since high school and were gathered up into the Hospital fold in summer 2002, after a tip off from High Contrast no less. A series of 12"s, remixes and compilation appearances helped to build their diehard underground fanbase.
In 2005 they released Don't Follow a storming fast soul classic which featured the vocal talents of the legendary Diane Charlemagne, this brought their sound to a new audience and has remained in the boxes of many A-list d&b jocks ever since.
It was 2006 which saw the release of their Debut LP Ghetto Blaster; an epic album of futuristic beats which won instant plaudits from both fans and critics alike and really marked Cyantific's place in D&B history. Remix work and extensive touring followed, with Jon taking his djing to a new level.
Recognised in march 2007 when Cyantific scooped the highly prized Best Breakthrough DJ award from BBC 1Xtra - It was apparent that Jon has some serious skills, and he's on a mission to spread the gospel according to Cyantific far and wide.
After Cyantific gave a mixing masterclass on Hospital Mix 6 it is now, in 2009, and on Hospital Mix 7 that we grab a sneak of what he has been working on. "Empty Streets" & "Space Zombie" come straight from his studio bunker.
In a Strangely blurred area of South West London on Google maps, there are reports of tech, funk and breaks well above normal levels. In regular djing trips outside of the compound, Cyantific has leaked more and more space age material. If you don't know by now, hold tight, the truth is out there, and it's coming to a dancefloor near you!
Supporting Cyantific will be
Linken & Vertigo feat DTechMC

ASONG SOS CONCERT @ SHUSH!
GANGgajang and Mahalia Barnes will headline an SOS (Salute Our Songwriters) Concert to be run by the peak body for Australian songwriters, ASONG (www.asong.org.au ) at Shush in Newtown on Thurs 2 Dec. The entire lineup will showcase a range of extraordinary original Australian artists, including members of ASONG’s contributing bodies – the Australian Songwriters Association (ASA), Songsalive! and the Songwriting Society of Australia (SSA). The focus of the event is to highlight the need for improved levels of local content on our radio programs.
National not-for-profit organisation ASONG (Australian Songwriters Official National Group)s is determined to foster a positive change for locally produced Australian music by increasing the per centage to be played on Australian commercial radio.
The SOS (Salute Our Songwriters) Concert will help raise awareness of the current perilous state Australian songwriters find themselves in, with the local content quotas for the existing radio formats (the analog stations) being locked in at no more than 25%. This is in stark contrast with countries such as France and Canada, where quotas of up to 60% local content have been successfully legislated for, with a view to maintaining and encouraging the growth of the local culture. Without sufficient quotas, countries may find themselves slowly but surely becoming cultural satellites of the United States, with local populations identifying with Detroit hip-hop and slick plastic Hollywood music, while losing touch with the very music which reflects their own country's culture.
The recent decision by the Australian Communications and Media Authority(ACMA) regarding local content quotas is a timely case in point. Briefly, this decision covers the coming three year period, during which time commercial radio stations on the digital band will be able to play music 24 hours a day, without having to include one Australian song on their playlists. How ACMA could have come to this decision is beyond the understanding of the Directors and the member organisations of ASONG. It is obvious to them that the relationship between commercial radio playlists and the profile of Australian music (and the culture itself), is intrinsically interwoven.
ASONG will continue to support Australian Songwriters in matters pertaining to the political and commercial spheres of influence. Its mission to look after our songwriters is supported by the organisation’s major sponsor, APRA (Australasian Performing Right Association).
The ASONG SOS Concert 2010 is the inaugural show of what will become an iconic annual event. Get your ticket at presale prices from www.asong.org.au.

BIO's -
3rd Eye
(Requiem Audio, Stoke, Gradient, Area, TwentyTwelve, Echodub, Sub Continental).
Emerging from a background in audio engineering and metal production, 3rdeye began experimenting with drum and bass production in 2005 as well as establishing himself as a DJ supporting artists as diverse as Concord Dawn, Artificial Intelligence, High Contrast, Mindscape, Black Sun Empire, Big Bud and Calyx. Now considered one of the leading lights of the Australian dubstep scene, 3rdeye has been grounded in the movement since debut track ‘Irish Wind’ garnered widespread acclaim in 2007. He is submerged in the deeper side of the genre with a soulful, diverse, and ever- expanding sound.
3rdeye’s detailed productions point to a wide range of influences - the lush chords and crackles of dubtechno, the atmosphere and melody of deep drum and bass, to the stark minimalism and enveloping sub-bass of early dubstep. He also draws influence from personal experiences, art, philosophy, dreams, and film in order to create his cinematic, emotionally charged soundscapes. 3rdeye’s style is never static, and this is reflected in a healthy release schedule on a variety of internationally renowned labels including Requiem Audio, Stoke Audio, Twenty/Twelve Recordings, Sub Continental Dub, Gamma Audio, Case Records, Echodub and Gradient Audio.
DJ support including: HxdB, BunZer0, Phaeleh, TKR, Myrkur, Vesicle, Boot, Dubtek, Droid Sector, Tri-Funk, Mind, Jeekoos, Westernsynthetics, Be-1ne, Flippo, Phonetics, Vishnu, B1t Crunch3r, Matoa, King SlaFF, Phonetic System, Roko, Bigbasha and Andy Warburton (Ministry Of Sound).

Droid Sector
(Requiem Audio, Ascension, Subway, Terminal Dusk, Shift, Paradise Lost).
Tom Wojcicki aka Droid Sector is a 27 year old producer/dj currently residing in Geelong on the east coast of Australia. Since late 2008 Droid Sector had steadily been increasing his exposure within the scene through a number digital releases on labels such as Rottun, Shift and Stupid Fly. Mid 2009 saw him get picked up for his first vinyl release by none other than Tech Itch, and he made his vinyl debut on Ascension with two popular tunes Crimson Tears and Bipolar.
From that point onwards things really picked up for him and a succession of vinyl releases followed, with his collab with the Bassist 'Jah Is Coming' becoming a hit in the US and EU. His tunes range from the face meltingly hard and heavy to deep melancholic numbers.
At the end of 2009 he began playing DJ shows and has thus far headlined in every major city in Australia. His sets take in a wide range of dubstep styles from the deep to the heavy, and crowds can always be assured of hearing 100% fresh tunes when they see him play. He has also recently started a vinyl label dedicated to dark, deep and techy dubstep with artists such as Babylon System and Matt U onboard to release tunes on it.
The rest of 2010 sees a swathe of vinyl coming out on a broad range of labels, as well as many shows both at home and abroad.

The Abyss
(Requiem Audio, Terminal Dusk, Ad Noiseam, Gradient, Rottun, Rogue Dubs, Paradise Lost).
Boot & Sook write music because they have to, they seriously wouldn't know what to do with themselves if they didn't. No similes, allegories or waffling flowery statements are needed to describe the sound: Badass teched out take your pants off dancefloor punk filth plain and simple!
Their sets consists of their own funked out filthiness combined with some of the most ridiculous dubs on the circuit from some of the most mindbendingly disgusting producers on the planet.
The Abyss have several releases out and forthcoming on some of dubstep's most established and fastest upcoming labels such as Sook's huge powerfilth tracks End Of Time & The New Bleak on Rottun, Boot's haunting Satellite forthcoming on Terminal Dusk & a filthy remix of Secateur's Metalizer for Brisbane label Digital Mixdown. They've also got a split EP forthcoming on Betamorph containing solo and collab tracks from both the boys.
Boot & Sook have had DJ and Radio support from artists such as Excision, Droid Sector, Triage, Garage Pressure, Sub Bass Snarl, Twisted, Dubtek, Dank Dealz, Western Synthetics, Phaded, Datsik, Sick Cycle, Innasekt, Suspect, Vaski, Paranoise and Current Value.
The boys have supported the likes of Antiserum, Excision, Reso, Seven, Balkansky, Garage Pressure, Mark Pritchard, Calyx & Teebee, Phace, Misanthrop, Raiden, Spor, Ewun, Gridlok, Storm, Klute, Temper D, Impact, Dose, C4C and Telemetrik.
They've also been regulars at many events/riots/paddywagons around Sydney including the infamous DSS Warehouse parties, Void, No Frills, Konkrete Jungle, DNBBQ, Suck It Up, MITC, Greenbeats and Inhale, and have just completed an Australian mini tour, taking in Adelaide, Perth & Melbourne.
Strap on your moonboots, it's time to spacewalk...

CARNAGE @ SHUSH THIS SATURDAY!
Death Metal, Prog Metal and Blackened Death Metal all on one Bill! Carnage will host its second event at its new location in newtown with three monster bands, two of them being Hate Disciple (QLD) and Altars (SA) having their Debut shows in Sydney and the other being Mass Burials Long awaited Launch of their album "Eternal war". Supporting these three monsters will be the local acts of Progressive Metal Hemina and Avarin both featuring some well respected Musicians in the Australian Metal scene. www.myspace.com/heminaaus Hemina, Sydney's Exclusive Prog Power Metal band have only been playing for a shortwhile, with Andrew Craig on battery from Numerous bands including Lycanthia, we are assured an amazing performance from these guys. www.myspace.com/avarin Avarin, with front man Mike Zois, there arent many matches to how impressive this bloke can throw his voice, along with the rest of the band, once again, I've seen them pull off "Children of the Sea" pretty damn well, so lets hope they play that one again. Altars www.myspace.com/altarsoffi Hailing from Adelaide, South Australia, Altars is a four piece Death Metal band. Since their demo release in 2008 Altars have created a stir in the Australian Death Metal underground, receiving positive reviews and tightening their skills alongside Cannibal Corpse [USA], Portal [AUS], Ulcerate [NZ], Mournful Congregation [AUS], Dismember [SWE], Grave [SWE] amongst others. Removed from the muddy exterior present on their demo release, Altars’ contribution, “Nepenthe… Sepulcher” to the Tzun Tzu/ Altars Split, demonstrates the bands capabilities and promises a far more sinister and unrelenting entity to come as the band now focus on completing tracks for their debut full length TBA. Hate Disciple http://www.myspace.com/hat With the unwanted stigma of violence surrounding the band, Hate Disciple have quickly amassed a loyal, somewhat cult following in only a short period of time. With a number of setbacks, including being banned from the venue of their first gig before they had even hit the stage, Hate Disciple have put all this behind them to forge a united bond, intent on delivering a live performance to remember each and every time. Paying no attention to the 'pecking order' of bands around them, Hate Disciple strip away the bullshit, delivering music that refuses to follow any current Mass Burial http://www.myspace.com/mas Mass Burial was established in 2008 by vocalist/bassist Goran M, the ideologist and main song writer, and lead guitarist Alen A, who gave the band's sound its typical sophisticated finish. The current line up is completed with Ron M on drums. The blackened death metal band from Sydney Australia musically combines elements of merciless vehemence with atmospheric mysticism; amalgamating a unique blend of death and black metal. Influenced by the greats of extreme metal, including Morbid Angel, Behemoth and Emperor, Mass Burial received acclaim from worldwide audiences and underground metal media for their self released demo "In The Realm Of Death". The formula of necromantic, martial lyrics poured into compositions of hard hitting yet tasteful riffs, mesmerising guitar solos and neck breaking drum patterns, immediately resonates with metal fans who long for music that is artistically rich in dark spirituality. Following a series of successful concerts in Australia during 2009, Mass Burial engaged Lachlan Mitchell; known for his engineering work on the albums of Australian metal exports, The Amenta and Nazxul, to record and mix the band's debut full length studio album. 'Eternal War' captures some of the darkest apocalyptic visions and unleashes them upon the world in the form of nine perfectly aggressive tracks. Finalised in July 2010, the album was mastered by Alan Douches, credited for his mastering services for some of the world's most famous extreme metal bands including Nile, Mastodon and Sepultura. |

LOW SOCIETY presents BABYLON SYSTEM @ SHUSH
LOW SOCIETY DUBSTEP kicks out the cold and kicks off an epic series of events for the summer with San Francisco’s finest DUBSTEP act;
BABYLON SYSTEM
http://www.myspace.com/thebabylonsystem
Babylon System, the California based dubstep outfit, consists of the killer combo of veteran dj/producers: ROOMMATE and NO THING. Since 2006 the two have been setting the world on fire with their aggressive, gangster and reggae infused dancefloor sound. Their releases are all anxiously awaited and their dubs are spun by every big dj in the scene. Tunes like “Examination of Time”, “Loaded”, “Get on up”, and “Hyphy” were instant anthems, selling out from all world wide record shops, with heavy support from giants like; N-type, Plastician, Bassnectar, Noah D, Emalkay, and Skream. Live, they get the party rowdy with quick mixes, diverse track selection, top shelf dubs, and their contagious positive energy. Not only are their legendary sets leaving a huge impression on every major North American city but they’ve turned heads all over Europe, and an Australia/New Zealand tour is their next target. Expect more anthem releases and smashed up dance floors. Watch out, their thick, gangster sound will knock you out!!!
